Welcome
Your rescue squad provides
emergency medical services and community health programs to
the folks who live in the northern, still mostly rural, half
of Botetourt County, Virginia. It's an area loved by residents
and visitors for its peace and quiet. But it is also an area
far from hospital emergency rooms and that presents unique
challenges to the members of your squad.
To meet the challenges,
your rescue squad utilizes three main strategies.
First, and most important, we conduct community outreach
health and safety projects designed to keep you in good
health. You'll learn more about these in the section called
"Your Health."
Second, your squad deploys its ambulances and first responder
vehicles throughout the area. Units are currently located
in Eagle Rock, Glen Wilton and Oriskany. You'll learn more
about this in the section called "Your
Squad." Thirdly, your squad conducts frequent training
aimed at expediting patient care and transport including
rapid transport by helicopter. You'll learn more about this
training in the section called "Training."
This is your squad and
we need your help. Folks who can run calls during the day
are particularly needed. So if you're a retiree in reasonably
good health, please look over the section called "Join
the Squad." And don't think you are too old. One
of our active squad members is 70 years of age. The squad
also needs donations
to fund its community health and safety outreach projects.
