NOW! Keep an up-to-date FILE
OF LIFE posted on your refrigerator at all times. This

Squad equipment and medical personnel
Your rescue squad's equipment and medical technicians are
licensed by the State of Virginia, Department of Health,
Office
of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) to provide the
highest quality emergency medical care possible to those
in need. The squad operates three ambulances licensed for
both Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support
(BLS). [That means the ambulances are equipped to support
paramedics (ALS providers) and basic emergency medical technicians
(BLS providers).]
Two of the squad's ambulances are located in the town of
Eagle Rock and one in the village of Glen Wilton. The squad
also has two non-transport first responder vehicles licensed
for BLS. One of these vehicles is located in the village
of Oriskany, the other in Eagle Rock.
Those squad members who are qualified to operate an ambulance
and provide emergency medical services undergo training
and must pass state controlled written and practical exams.
Descriptions of these certification programs are given in
the training section of the OEMs website. View
a list of squad members who are licensed by the state to
provide emergency medical services (Select "Eagle
Rock Volunteer Fire Department/Rescue Squad" in the
drop-down box then click "Search").
Your Squad is a member of Botetourt Emergency Medical
Services
The squad is an active member of Botetourt
County Emergency Services. This agency coordinates and
manages fire and rescue responses within the county and
together with the modern Enhanced 911 dispatch center, provides
valuable information and assistance to your rescue squad.
In the event the squad is busy on another call or members
are not available to staff the ambulances, the 911 dispatch
centers alerts other nearby rescue squads who will come
to your aid. An ambulance with an ALS career crew provides
outstanding assistance during the day (6 am to 6 pm) and
one career ALS member is on duty all night. These career
medical technicians provide ALS service to all areas of
the county.
Squad Meetings, Bylaws and Finances
The squad holds regular business meetings at 7:30 PM on
the 4th Monday of each month at the squad building in downtown
